‘Art With Heart’ Announces 10th Anniversary Auction’s Featured Artists

to be Featured at 2010 ‘Art With Heart’ Art Auction
Supporting United Family Services’ Domestic Violence Programs
Charlotte, N.C., November 16, 2009 – Art With Heart, an annual art auction benefiting nonprofit United Family Services’ domestic violence programs, recently announced Eric Aho, Tony Hernandez, David Kroll, Chris Metze, and Benjamin Shamback will serve as featured artists for the 10th anniversary event, to be held February 6, 2010 at Founders Hall. The featured artists are all represented by the Hidell Brooks Gallery, Charlotte. These five artists will headline the event as they have pledged to donate pieces from their collections.
Eric Aho studied at the Central School of Art and Design in London, England and received his BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. His work has been presented in numerous gallery exhibitions and is represented in private and public collections throughout the country and abroad including the permanent collections in the Fleming Museum, the Oulu City Art Museum, the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, the Fine Arts Museum of San Francisco, the Ogunquit Museum of American Art, and various corporations.
Tony Hernandez attended the Art Institute of Atlanta and went on to The Southern College of Technology, where he studied architecture. Hernandez has had solo exhibitions in numerous cities throughout the country and is included in the permanent collection of The San Francisco Museum of Art. The musical group Train has also bought the rights to some of his painting to use as their album cover artwork.
David Kroll has exhibited widely throughout the country and is in many important public and private collections including The Gund Collection, MA; Microsoft Corporation, WA; Philip Morris, NY; Prudential, NJ; and the MacArthur Foundation, IL.
Chris Metze studied painting and sculpture at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, British Columbia. Metze is represented by Kathryn Markel Fine Arts in New York City and the Simon Gallery in Morristown, New Jersey, among other galleries across the United States.
Benjamin Shamback received a BA in Illustration from Central Connecticut State University in 1996 and in 1999 he received a MFA in Painting from Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri. Ben's specialty is oil painting and his work has been included in more than 100 national and regional competitions receiving awards in competitive exhibitions throughout the United States.
Art With Heart's past featured artists include Thomas McNickle and Brian Rutenburg (2009), Sharon Dowell, Scott Upton and Charles Walker (2008), Amy Cole, Christy Kinard and Kim Schuessler (2007), Andy Braitman (2006), Tony Griffin (2005), Tommie Robinson (2004), George Pocheptsov (2003), Ben Long (2002), and Herb Jackson (2001).
